Everytime WordPress Updates their WordPress Core to a significant release (1.2.3.4 and soon 5) we have to ensure that all of our websites and plugins we support and run are compatible. Now that we have possibly the most significant upgrade coming in December we will need to do some major due diligence.
For those of you who have upgraded your website in the last five years that will not be an issue, for others (less than 5% of our base). It may well be. If you have a website with us that has not been significantly upgraded in the last five years, we will contact you. We will not be renewing your site to WordPress 5.0.
The vast majority of our clients will be upgraded and you will sleep wistfully at night. However, for the following sites, there will be no upgrade in the foreseeable future!
Sites That WIll not Be Upgraded.
- Sites built and not upgraded before 2014.
- Sites that have Plugins installed without clearance from our team.
WordPress 5.0
Considerable changes to systems can be difficult to swallow. WordPress 5.0 labeled Gutenberg is a massive leap forward, and will slowly change the way you use WordPress. The Gutenberg editor is the most significant change
WordPress 5.0 Blocks (Page Builder)
Anyone using one of our sites over the past few years has probably become used to Visual Composer as a page builder. We will continue to use this as our major page builder over Gutenberg. That is until Gutenberg advances where it is a competitor.
If you have any questions regarding the upgrade and Gutenberg, call us on (305) 766-6210, and we can discuss any issues that you may have relating to your website.
