AMP: Accelerated Mobile Pages

AMP – short for Accelerated Mobile Pages are currently being installed on all of our clients’ websites. From June 30, 2017, all of our WordPress websites including all of our Functional and Integrative Medicine

AMP – short for Accelerated Mobile Pages are currently being installed on all of our clients’ websites. From June 30, 2017, all of our WordPress websites including all of our Functional and Integrative Medicine websites will be fully AMP Accelerated Mobile Pages enabled.  This was a major process undertaken by our team across hundreds of websites.

AMP Accelerated Mobile Pages

AMP stands for Accelerated Mobile Pages, is a Google-backed project supported by Twitter and a bunch of other companies. Designed as an open standard for any publisher to have pages load quickly on mobile devices.

The Process

WordPress provides a basic version of AMP for WordPress that does all the basics quite nicely. However, when we wanted to include further functionality we had to expand on this and as we use Yoast SEO across nearly all websites we serve, we also added the Glue for Yoast plugin. We then needed to configure Google Analytics and customize the look and feel of AMP pages to suit our clients’ brands more closely.

Working Through Hundreds of Websites

Our team began working through hundreds of websites one by one starting back in April 2017 and we plan on finishing all websites by June 30th, 2017. Each site requires two plugins to be configured and styled and also integration with Google Analytics so that clients can measure the benefits. We then tested each sites AMP pages to make sure all was well. In the future, all of our websites will come with AMP configured.
